Time For Love-Chapter 1

936full-jake-gyllenhaal

Okay I’m a glutton for punishment. Why would I ever start a story while I have about five of them that I’m in a middle of writing right now. Because I’m a glutton for punishment but this story was just on my mind and these two folks were on it as a good combination for hero and heroine. Don’t expect an update for this too soon. I still got two stories I’m finishing Remember Your Heart and Surviving in Dateland. But for some reason I thought Forks, Washington would be a good setting. Because I know Forks and the areas around Forks and someone needs a tell a story about that beautiful part of the country without including werewolves and sparkly vampires. So why not me.  I hope you like this story and like I said it may be awhile before you see a Chapter 2 but I’m going to complete it, definitely.

Chapter 1

‘There he is over there, Lill.’

‘Who’s over there?’ Casey peeked her nosy head in on Lill and Roberta’s conversation.

‘I’m not talking to you Casey. Get outta our business,’ Roberta admonished the young woman.

Lill still hadn’t turned toward whatever Roberta was talking about, she didn’t have time. There were other customers in The Rain Drop Diner that needed help. The breakfast rush was winding down but there were still people at her tables and the counter which Roberta was handling today.

Lillian turned toward her exasperated with her chatter, ‘What Roberta! What are you talking about?’

‘Over in the corner. He’s been here every Thursday morning for a month and the whole time he’s here he’s eyeing you.’

At that statement, Lillian thought maybe she needed to check ‘him’ out. She turned from the prep counter to the corner and there he was. She hadn’t noticed him until Roberta said something today, but she wasn’t sure how she’d missed him. He was beautiful. He had chestnut brown hair and the sweetest blue eyes she’d ever seen and Roberta was right he was looking at her. He was trying to do it slyly but he was almost gawking. She knew he wasn’t staring at Roberta she was a 56 year old rotund grandmother. Casey was out of the question it wasn’t because she was bad looking or older she wasn’t. She was 22 years old, kind of mousy but cute but she was married with 2 children. So by process of elimination it had to be her.  She looked away from his stare it was making her uncomfortable.

Lillian had never really been into white guys even as one of the few black women in a small town by the coast of Washington. She’d always dated black men, she always felt that they knew her struggle a lot better. She’d lived in Seattle for many years with two ex-boyfriends after she’d dropped out of college the first year, a decision she regretted. She struggled on her own there for a few years living with her cousin and her husband but she just felt like a burden. About 3 years ago after her dad had a stroke she’d come back to Forks to be near her parents. They needed her. She lived in a tiny house behind their place and it suited her. She helped them and it gave her chance to attend college via online. She had a few more months until graduation and then hopefully she’d be starting a career away from this diner. She’d always been grateful Ben Holloway had given her a job when she showed back up in town, she’d worked her as a teenager. Now all she hoped was that this accounting degree would get her some work. She didn’t want to look around in 4 years and be 35 still waiting on tables.

Jose was ringing for her to pick up another order but before she did she caught one more quick glance at the gorgeous man in the corner. She didn’t have time for this kind of distraction but he was certainly nice to look at.

Jonas just sat there sipping his coffee with a half eaten muffin on the plate. This certainly was not the best place in town for breakfast, there was diner up the road that had way better food, but she was here. He’d come in once to ask directions and saw her. She was the most beautiful thing he’d ever beheld. Beautiful skin the color of fresh honey, she was an exotic flower in a sea of weeds in this town.

Jonas had moved to Forks from Olympia he’d just been here about two months, he’d come for an opportunity to buy a veterinary clinic from one his old professors. Dr. Parsons had always believed in him so when he decided to retire to the Bahamas he called Jonas and gave him first opportunity to buy out his established clinic. So he’d moved out here it was small but quaint and it was the setting for that book and movie ‘Twilight’. He wasn’t concerned about that he was concerned about the fine beauty that was waiting tables. He’d purposefully not set at her tables when he showed up on Thursday morning. He didn’t think he was ready to talk to her, he had seen from her name tag her name was Lillian. She was definitely a Lilly, beautiful, soft, delicate and exquisite. When he was there on Thursday mornings she never seemed to pay him much attention, he breezed in and out unnoticed until today. Today she’d looked directly at him when the older woman spoke to her. He wondered if they were talking about him. It didn’t matter. He’d have to make a move soon or he’d be accused of stalking. He just wasn’t sure he had time for love or even if he should bother.

His last relationship had ended a year ago when his fiancé, Heather had left him for a yoga instructor in California. This would be a fresh start.

Lillian was getting weary of Roberta following her around talking about the strange guy at the corner table staring at her.

‘I’ve heard a couple of people call him, Dr. Stewart. I wonder what kind of doctor he is?’ Casey said. Roberta looked over at him again, ‘with those kind of clothes child he couldn’t be a rich one.’

‘Roberta,’ she was finally fed up, ‘I’ve got customers to help and so do you. I’ve got a cup a coffee and a glass of juice to get over to Ethel and Rev. Bell, not now please.’

Roberta threw her hands in the air and backed away she knew when Lill was in a bad mood it was not the time to gossip or chitchat.

Lillian was coming from behind the counter when someone at it tried to get her attention she turned suddenly and didn’t even notice the gorgeous hunk of man who walked in front of her.

‘Whoa!’ She said as she bumped directly into his side, coffee and juice went flying everywhere. Most of it hit Lill’s t-shirt, jeans, apron, and the floor.

‘I’m so sorry,’ the good looking stranger from the corner table told her.

Lillian sighed then plastered on a smile, ‘it’s okay it was totally my fault. This will happen when you don’t watch where you’re going.’

Casey and Roberta both rushed over to make sure she was okay and to bring her a towel.

‘Are you okay Mister? I didn’t burn you with that coffee?’ Lillian asked as she tried to clean his jacket.

‘Oh no, I’m okay I got some on my pants but this jacket is water proof. Looks like that was a good purchase,’ he smiled at Lillian.

For a moment she was at a complete loss for words, he was beautiful, friendly, sensuous, and sexy all at once. His whole face lit up when he smiled, he had the naughty schoolboy thing going on full blast. She blinked and shook her head slightly to come out of the dream of her and him and more ways to make him smile.

‘Oh. Good.’ She looked over toward the Bells, ‘Reverend and Mrs. Bell, I’ll get you new glasses of coffee and juice in a moment. And well since you’re okay I better get picked up and back to work.’

Lillian hurried away from him like lightning, she couldn’t take much more of that smile. It had her weak in the knees and she’d never felt that way about anyone particularly some white guy. As she refilling coffee cups and pouring more juice she kept looking over at him. He was paying Roberta and was about to leave, but just before he did he looked back to catch Lillian smiling at him and waved. She almost dropped that dang juice glass again. She was headed back to give Rev. Bell and Mrs. Bell their drinks and peered out of the window to see him in the parking lot. He had a sure gait, very manly, she’d only noticed his face in the restaurant but his body wasn’t to go unnoticed he looked to be in good shape. He got into a silver Volvo SUV and headed out.

‘You okay child?’

Lillian looked down at Rev. Bell, ‘oh yes sir, I sure am. I made a bit of a mess but I’ve recovered.’

‘That’s good, looked a little messy for a second, Sister Danvers,’ then he chuckled.

Lillian thought, he didn’t know how right he was now that they’d acknowledged each other this thing could get messy.

Jonas had just stepped into his clinic for the day he an appointment at 9:30 a woman by the name of Ms. Killeen who had a tabby by the name of Buttons that was listless and not eating. Jonas enjoyed being a veterinarian, he preferred animals to people many times and living in such a rural area it kept him busy and the work was much more varied. He saw domesticated animals small as gerbils and wild animals as big as cougars.

‘Hey Dr. Stewart!’

‘Hey there, Thad how are you today?’

‘Doing great Dr. Stewart. Had an awesome night, my girlfriend accepted my marriage proposal.’

‘Really, that’s great. Congratulations.’

‘I guess finally getting this great job with you as veterinary assistant sealed it for her.’

Jonas laughed, yes he knew how some women were impressed by money. He hoped Thad had chosen wisely it could be tragic to figure out you hadn’t too late.

‘I see you’re getting things prepped for today.’

‘Yes, we’ll be ready Dr. Stewart. I looked at the schedule looks like we’re busy today.’

‘We have lots of precious creatures to take care of. Is Chelsea here yet?’

‘No, but it’s almost 9 she should be showing up any minute.’

‘Okay we’ve got our first patient at 9:30 am. I’ve got some notes to complete before they come in. I’ll be in my office.’

‘Okay, Dr. Stewart, I’ll let you know when our first patient arrives.’

Jonas walked toward his office, he stepped in and took off his coat and put it on the coat rack. This place wasn’t fancy or lavish, it was functional. The walls were paneled, he’d taken down all the photos Fred Parsons had up. He hadn’t replaced it with much, just various accolades, certifications and degrees he’d earned. He had a few photos of his family but not many, his parents lived in Gig Harbor still and his brother and two sisters still lived here in the Pacific Northwest. Jonas was the youngest at 35 years old, then his sister, Mary Ann was 38, married with two kids, then his brother Donovan was 43, married with one child, then his oldest sister, Vivian was 46 had married her long time girlfriend this year, they had five kids together. Jonas’ parents continually looked at him and wondered why he wasn’t married and giving them grandkids. Then again after today he thought he might make them grandparents some time soon.

He’d been enchanted when he first saw her almost a month ago when he walked into the diner to ask directions and get a cup of coffee to go. She was like a dream come to life, she was wearing braids that day and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was so busy she didn’t notice him and hadn’t noticed him until today. The luck of her running into him was kismet, finally a chance to speak to her not exactly in the way he imagined but it was better than nothing.

He’d found out that day her name was Lillian because that’s what the customers called her. She was friendly and engaging and sexy as everything. Her sex appeal caught his eye but over the last few weeks of coming in for breakfast he’d noticed more. She was funny and smart, she was kind but was very direct with some of the over eager menfolk in this small town. It couldn’t be easy to so gorgeous with a body that just screamed sin and not have some of these old horn dogs and the young ones too getting all grab ass. He liked she was a little tough but sweet and stood up for herself. He’d had enough of push overs with Heather, he liked that she would probably give him a challenge.

As he sat there with images of her pretty smile and smooth, soft caramel skin he could feel his manhood stirring. Jonas couldn’t believe it, it had been many years and many women since he’d felt such longing just imagining someone. This Lillian had bewitched him and he was eager to see what would come of this infatuation. There was sharp rap at the door, Jonas looked up and tried to calm his active hormones.

‘Come in.’

‘Dr. Stewart, first patient is in.’

‘Alright Thad get the feline prepped. I’ll be in a minute.’

Meagan-Good-Mens-Health-23He needed a moment and a plan on how to make a chance encounter with the woman of his dreams into time for love.

Love Never Leaves-Chapter 3

The night had gone well, Helena had found Jake to be funny and engaging and really charming. She was just so shocked because the person she’d first met didn’t seen to match at all the person who set across from her in this neighborhood bar. They’d had a delicious meal and had decided to go a place called The Spot Lounge. It was quiet and romantic with a great Jazz quartet playing to set the mood. They were on their 2nd drink Jake enjoying a rum and coke while Helena sipped on a glass of Malbec.

‘Helena, I’m glad you decided to go out with me.’

‘Well, I think I deserved the apology dinner. I’m not going to press the issue but you weren’t the friendliest person I had ever met in my life.’

Jake lowered his head in shame, he couldn’t really tell her why he’d been so unfriendly but he wanted to make it up to her, she was nice and insanely beautiful. He kept feeling as if maybe he liked her, maybe too much.

‘I’m sorry there really is no excuse for my behavior. My grandmother would tan my hide if she were alive.’

At those words Helena thought she’d definitely be down for seeing his tanned hide. He was so sexy she’d been trying to appear more reserved but this red wine was getting to her.

‘It’s okay, sometimes days are bad,’ and she should know she had many bad days after Scott’s death. She shook her head to come out of the memory and there he still was sitting in front of her, looking better than any man she’d seen in a long time.

‘I can’t believe you’re an author and a famous one. Just wow! I’ve read your books but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen any new ones. What you been up to?’

Jake didn’t want to tell her the reason he hadn’t been writing was because he’d been depressed and mourning. She asked what he did and he almost lied but decided to just to be truthful. He didn’t want to start off on the wrong foot with this woman. So he told her that he wrote books, that he actually wrote mysteries and found that she loved his mysteries. And then he told her that he was Earl Gall. She almost didn’t believe him but he proved he was, he had some photos from a trade show he’d recently gone to. She was impressed and happy and he felt like for the first time in a long while he’d opened up to a woman. He’d been vulnerable. It felt great. For many years no one knew who he was but Connie had encouraged him to come out from under the pseudonym. He was a best-selling author so he was afraid he’d be inundated but it wasn’t that bad some people recognized him out and about but most times no one knew who he was. That suited Jake just fine.

‘How did you come up with that name? Just pick it out of a phone book or something?’

He laughed, Helena loved the way his green eyes twinkled when he laughed. He had this naughty mischievous little boy face even with his full beard.

‘No. Earl is my middle name, Gall is just shortened from Galanos. When I started writing, I was still working as an attorney I wasn’t supposed to be moonlighting. But I had to get it out. I got turned down by everyone and I do mean everyone till finally I got a call from Banner Books.’

‘Well what’s the rest of your story Mr. Gall? I’d like to know it.’

Jake wasn’t ready to tell it, ‘not much to tell. I was born in San Diego, lived there all my life until I moved here. I have one older sister, a mom and dad who live in Palm Springs, and I used to be a patent attorney. I’m 42 years old and that’s about it.’

‘I’m sure there’s more to that story but I won’t press you.’

Jake smiled and put his hands up waving no, ‘nope, there’s not much else. I’m not that interesting.’

‘Jake, please from what I can tell you’re very interesting.’

Jake saw the look in her eyes, it was smoldering. He just felt so drawn to her, he couldn’t help it he leaned over and pulled her closer.

‘Helena, can I ask you something?’

Helena was surprised she thought for sure he was was going in for the kiss.

‘Sure,’ she was embarrassed that she thought something was going to occur and it didn’t.

‘I want to kiss you but it’s been awhile since I’ve kissed anyone. I don’t want to mess this up because I like you. Is it okay if I kiss you?’

Helena looked a little taken aback she hadn’t had someone ask her for a kiss not even Scott did that. She just found it so sweet and endearing and she wanted the kiss.

‘Of course.’

The each leaned in and his nice firm lips hit hers. It felt great, his lips were soft and at first he was hesitant, he tasted of spicy rum and sweet cola. She could kiss him all night, he didn’t rush anything then suddenly it seemed they each sought more. Jake’s tongue slipped easily into the seam of her lips and Helena opened willingly to allow him access. Jake wanted to grab her and place her on his lap so she could feel how turned on he was. He was surprised by his reaction to her, his hands were on her arms and he held on to her gently. It was more than he could take, he pulled away suddenly.

Helena was left a little bereft that he’d just pulled back. She didn’t want it to stop but then again they were in public maybe what was happening between them was a little hot and heavy.

Helena was blushing although her cocoa skin wasn’t giving it away, ‘Jake we better settle down.’

Jake leaned back on the bar stool and sighed he had to get his raging hormones under control. He was like a 16 year old and it was a tad embarrassing. He also felt a small surge of guilt but he tried to put it out of his mind.

‘I’m sorry, I just wanted to kiss you. You’re so beautiful and I just wanted to feel those gorgeous lips on mine.’

‘I wanted you to kiss me. What’s going on here, Jake? I mean a few days ago, you were shooing me away from your door and now we’re making out.’

He put his head back and laughed loudly, it was wonderful and deep. He noticed this was the best he’d felt since…well since their death. He didn’t know how to feel about that, he wanted to feel this good being with someone but was it really right?

‘Helena, I’m not sure but I know I want to get to know you better. You’ve sparked something in me I haven’t felt in awhile and I want to explore that.’

‘I just find your honesty very refreshing.’

‘You’re easy to be honest with. I really am drawn to you.’

‘I am to you also but you’ve got to know something, Jake.’

He looked at her quizzically, he was nervous it might be bad news.

‘I’m a widow, my husband died in Iraq a few years ago. He was my first and only love and I’ve been alone ever since. I’m excited about you but frightened. I mean you’ve set off feelings I didn’t remember I had.’

Jake was shocked, she was a widow too. Should he tell her about Connie and Dylan? She’d told him about her husband, was he ready for this? He looked at her beautiful face, she was so sweet and soft, he didn’t think he was ready to tell her his tragic story. But then he wondered when would he be?

‘I understand what you’re talking about, Helena. I don’t want to hurt you or lead you on but we can move slowly if you’d like.’

‘That may be the right thing to do,’ she replied.

They’d walked back to Helena’s and Jake thought he’d just say good night and let her go inside. She was stepping into the door and had turned to him. He thought he’d give her a hug and maybe a small kiss then go back to his place and try to overcome the guilt of feeling this horny.

‘I had wonderful evening, Helena.’

‘I did too.’

He was moving in for the hug but there was something about the look in her eye. She moved aside from the door.

‘Jake, why don’t you come in for a nightcap?’

Jake’s mind was telling him not to enter but his body had other ideas.

‘Okay,’ he stepped through with feelings of excitement warring with his guilt. He didn’t want this night to end, he didn’t want his time with this beautiful Goddess to ever be over. He walked in knowing these next moments could change everything and he wasn’t sure if that was good or bad.

The Handy Guy-Chapter 1

Yes, I’m churning them out. I love a little opposites attract in romance so I’ll see how I do at it. Enjoy.

leaking_pipe‘I know a handy guy.’

‘You know a what Mrs. Chen?’

‘Handy guy,’ she said in her broken English. They had been neighbors for 6 years and she was sweet. Her husband had died about 2 years ago and she was a able-bodied woman for 72 years old. Between her children and Grace she was taken care of, that was what Grace was doing now giving her some of the tomatoes she’d grown.

‘Oh handy man, you mean.’

‘Yes, handy guy. Isn’t that what I say?’ Mrs. Chen looked at her incredulous.

Grace looked over her shoulder from the ground and smiled. She’d been looking for someone to some work to her bathroom. A leak had caused a huge hole in her in shower wall. Tiles and dry wall had been everywhere. She’d been using Mrs. Chen’s shower while she got estimates. The estimates were not good, she wasn’t sure where she’d get a couple of thousand bucks. She could always ask her sister but with the asking came the lecture. She figured it was easier to live with the hole in the wall.

‘Yes that’s what you said. Who is this?’

‘I don’t remember his name but I got card.’

‘Oh good, I’ll take these over and you can give me the card.’

‘I want card. You just take number and name. I will keep card.’

‘Okay,’ Grace rose from her knees and showed Mrs. Chen the basket of beautiful red ripe tomatoes. ‘What do you think Mrs. Chen?’

‘Look good.’

‘I know it takes hard work to get them this good looking. I’m really proud of myself.’

Grace stood there admiring her hard work, she’d decided a couple of years ago to start a garden and it had grown. Half her backyard was now a garden and she had a hothouse. She liked this much better than trying to buy overpriced, under-flavored veggies and fruit at the grocery store.

‘Okay, Mrs. Chen, let me take these over for you and you can give me the number for the handy guy.’

The handy man was supposed to be there at 11am. Grace was doing laundry, that’s what her Sundays were normally for, laundry and house cleaning. The neighborhood she lived in wasn’t fancy but it was safe. She loved living in Seattle, had moved her after college. She was originally from Spokane, she’d been an Army brat and had been there most of her life. Her parents were both dead now but she lived here because her sister, who lived here with her husband, had encouraged her. Her sister Faith and she weren’t particularly close because Faith was wealthy and loved to rub it in Grace’s face in the most subtle ways. But they were still sisters. Faith had tried many times to set Grace up with some eligible bachelor her husband and she knew. Grace had been on a date or two, even had a short fling with one of the guys, but nothing ever came of it. Her sister usually blamed her for the dismal failures but Grace didn’t have much time for overly macho bullshit and guys who needed their egos stroked because they thought they were important since they were ex or current athletes.

Right now she just needed a handy guy to fix this bathroom. She was wearing shorts and an old Wu Tang t-shirt from her days of being a rebellious youth. At 32 years old those days were gone but she sure did have fun over at Washington State University.

She was throwing her dark clothes into the dryer when the doorbell rang. Dang, she thought. She dried her hands from handling the damp clothes and ran to the front door.

‘Who is it?’

She heard the most beautiful voice pipe up from the other side, ‘Hi! I’m Craig from The Handy Guy.’

She’d come to find out that Mrs. Chen wasn’t mispronouncing the name, the name of the business just happened to be The Handy Guy.

‘Oh yes,’ she started unlocking locks and unbolting bolts and chains to let him in. As she opened the door he appeared with the most amazing smile and gorgeous face she’d ever seen on a man.

‘Hi, I’m Craig Bellows from The Handy Guy,’ he did a little flourish to show her his t-shirt with the company name emblazoned on it. But all she saw were those rippling muscles trying their best to break free of the constraints of cotton. She had a sudden intake of breath at the physical pain she was feeling because he was incredibly fine. Grace was a bit awestruck, she heard him talking but wasn’t exactly listening.

‘Huh? What?’ she said embarrassed that he’d caught her gawking. She looked up to find him smiling at her again, even his teeth were gorgeous. Crest would be happy to have him as a spokesman.

‘I’m sorry maybe I was speaking too low.’

But Grace knew that he knew better, his knowing smile gave him away. She straightened up and tried to play calm, cool and collected.

‘Oh no, you are fine…I mean you sound fine.’ There was just no way not have those words produce a double entendre, she wanted to crawl into a hole.

He smiled really big again, then his eyes got a twinkle in them. ‘You are Grace Underwood?’

‘Yea, yes I’m her. Come on in.’ She moved out of his path and he entered as she shut the door she noticed her image in the hallway mirror. Oh lord, she looked a hot mess. Since this was Sunday she had made no effort to fix herself up, so her hair was in a haphazard pile on her head, no make up, no jewelry, and her skin needed lotion badly. It was looking gray in pallor.

She turned to find him staring at her as she stared at the mirror. She couldn’t read anything in his face but friendly patience. But she was sure this hunk with muscles rippling like waves and the gorgeous golden blonde hair and blue eyes thought she looked like death warmed over.

Gosh, he thought, I wish I could rip those clothes from her body and take her where she stands. When she opened the door he wasn’t expecting to find this glowing umber skin, those beautiful sienna eyes, and well…that body. He figured she thought was hiding something but those shorts were just showing long shapely legs and a round firm bottom and that t-shirt just struggled to hold those bountiful breasts in. He was keeping under control but just barely. The last thing he needed was to be accused of being inappropriate with a client his hold business would go up in flames so he’d keep his roaming thoughts and eyes to himself or at least try.

‘Well, it’s my bathroom. I’ve got a leak.’

‘Yes, you described it a little over the phone. Why don’t you take me to the bathroom and I’ll check it out.’

She lead him to the bathroom down the hall. Her walk wasn’t lost on Craig, she moved and he watched entranced by that firm bottom motioning from side to side. He wondered if she was taken, oh there was no need to wonder. Men couldn’t be that stupid as to let something so breathtaking not be claimed, he chuckled under his breath.

She turned and there he was smiling again but for a moment the smile looked slightly lusty. Couldn’t have been, just her mind wishing for something she knew she had no right to.

She entered the bathroom with him behind her. ‘Well, here it is.’

He moved the shower curtain and there it was, it looked the way she described.

‘Have you been using this?’ he looked back her in concern.

‘Oh no, I’ve been using my neighbor’s shower. Mrs. Chen has been letting me use hers. She’s the one who recommended you.’

As she said that, Craig had a picture of a naked black beauty wet and lathered pop into his mind. He couldn’t help it but he wish he had, her closeness was wreaking havoc on his body. He needed to get to work and get her out of here.

‘Do you have another bathroom you can use while I work?’

‘Sure, downstairs, I’m down there anyway doing laundry.’ She smiled at him and Craig sighed audibly. She was stunning but he needed her to leave this space.

Grace saw his brow furrow as a sound came from his lips that sounded as if he deflated.

‘Will you be able to fix this?’

‘Yes,’ he replied but he wanted to add and anything else you need fixing.

‘How much?’

‘It’s not hard fix just some dry walling but I’ll have to come back a couple of times. Including parts and labor about $600.’

‘Come back,’ Grace was not pleased to hear that. That was all she needed some hot handy man at her house for the next few days.

‘Yes, dry walling takes a few days to complete, to make sure it’s done correctly,’ he was already on his knees hammer out and picking at the walls.

He looked over his shoulders at her, she was lost in thought ogling him. He enjoyed that she appreciated what she saw he most certainly appreciated all she had to offer.

‘So Ms. Underwood does that sound good to you?’

Grace tried to look like she was giving the prospect careful thought but she wasn’t, she was wondering how she’d be able to make it with him in her house.

‘Well, I’ve got work so I’m not home till about 4 or so. Are you available then?’

Craig thought for a moment, he had some day time work to do and a business meeting. Oh what was thinking about he’d come here to fix her shower if she wanted him here at midnight,

‘Yes. May I ask what you do?’

‘I guess. It’s nothing fancy, I work as a court clerk.’

‘Ahh, filing cases making sure we’re all dragged in by the scruff of the neck.’

His tone kind of pissed Grace off, he seemed dismissive of what she did. She liked her job and thought she did great work.

‘Well, Mr. Bellows I think I need to finish my laundry. You’re hired but I ask you be here by 4:30 pm to do any additional work this week and please don’t leave a mess on my floor.’

She turned briskly and stomped out of the room. Craig looked after her, she seemed sort of upset he wondered if his comment had come out wrong. Well that was bound to happen, courts and litigation were not his favorite thing. He’d been dragged in a few times by customers who had more mental issues than issues with his work. He’d also fought a long battle with his ex-wife, Wendy, she’d walked away with half his stuff, alimony, and shared custody of their daughter. He thanked the Lord that someone had married her and she was off his hands but he still had to deal with her when it came to their 7 year old daughter, Chelsea. It had been bitter long battle with her and he had the scars to prove it.

Grace was downstairs throwing laundry into the washer. What an ass, she thought. When she opened the door she’d been swept away by his hunkiness but when he opened his mouth she’d decided that his looks weren’t enough to mask his ignorance. She was always proud of her work, she helped people figure out the complicated legal system, get their filings in on time, and filed correctly. She wasn’t trying to screw anyone, the courts were part of everyone’s lives and although justice wasn’t always served she knew many times it was. It was just an insult to her and what she did, she figured that would be the last time she would converse with him at any length.

She could hear him banging upstairs most of the afternoon, it had been ridiculous. She decided to just stay downstairs to try and read or watch TV but to no avail he was just too dang loud. Then it stopped, thank goodness she thought it was about time.

‘Hello, Ms. Underwood,’ he was calling from upstairs to her.

She got up and stood at the bottom of the steps. He appeared at the top and she couldn’t help herself she had to tighten her legs. She was so pissed at herself, this guy was a jerk this was not the time to be thinking she wanted to get her freak on.

She was mad at herself so when she spoke it inadvertently came out kind of bitchy. ‘Yes,’ she said with a long sigh.

He noticed she was annoyed at him still. Now, all he wanted to do was get this job over with maybe he’d send one of his other guys here for the remainder. He did not need this kind of drama in his life.

‘There are some parts I need for this job that I don’t have available to me.’

‘Umm hmm.’

He looked at her a little exasperated, ‘well, I’m going to head to hardware store to pick them up.’

‘Okay that’s fine,’ she was turning to go back her sofa when she heard that deep voice speak again.

‘Well I’ll need money for that.’

She stepped back into his view, ‘money?’

‘Yes Ms. Underwood. I charge for parts and labor and if I don’t have parts, I need the person who hired me to pay for them.’

She put her hand on her hip and pursed her lips. Goddamn it, he thought to himself, he should fling himself down those stairs and make love to her she looked as if she needed it.

‘Why don’t you have the parts? Shouldn’t you have everything you need?’

‘Well, Ms. Underwood usually I do but your house is an older one with older plumbing sometimes homes like yours need special parts. That’s what I’ve just discovered.’

She sighed and rolled her eyes.

‘You can come with me if you like, I don’t mind. I don’t want you think I’m trying to take advantage.’

If only, she thought. She shook her head, now was not the time to be lusting after the handyman, especially one that seemed so not her intellectual type.

‘Okay, I’ll be right up.’

Craig stepped away from the door and just stood against her fridge trying to will his cock down. He didn’t know when all that occurred but suddenly he got a raging hard on, this was really not like him especially with clients. He had to keep it professional.

Grace trudged up the steps the last thing she wanted to do was go to the hardware store. She looked down at herself and she looked an absolute mess but this was about as good as it was going to get on a Sunday afternoon.

‘Is it okay if I come in this?’ she asked.

Craig looked at her as she stood there looking like a complete sex kitten and nodded his head. He dare not speak because so many nasty thoughts were rolling through his mind he was sure they would come out.

They headed out the back door as Grace grabbed her purse from a coat hanger and they headed for Craig’s truck parked in her driveway. He had huge twincab red Ford F-150 a real man’s man truck. Great, she thought, he’s a male chauvinist pig to boot. He opened the door of the passenger’s side and helped her in. She looked at him as he took her arm, she was not trying to feel anything for this man but his touch made her tingly.

Craig saw her shiver a bit as he touched her to help her into the truck. He didn’t want her to fall so he thought the gentlemanly thing to do would be to help her. That was at least how he was trying to explain it to himself.  He actually just wanted to touch that soft skin, he’d been willing himself all day not to just reach out and grab her she looked so soft and she smelled fantastic. Any excuse to touch her he felt needed to be seized upon.

As they rode to get the plumbing parts, it was silent. He was listening to country music. Grace almost started rolling her eyes, he was hick too. He was everything she never wanted in a man, probably from some of these small towns outside of Seattle or worse, some of the small towns in Eastern Washington. Although she was from Spokane in Eastern Washington, she liked her hometown it was diverse and cool unlike most towns on that side of the mountains. She tried to sit close to the door, she figured she didn’t know him very well and if she needed to she could always jump out.

Craig kept looking at her out of the corner of his eye, she looked uncomfortable she kept squirming as if she was about to fly out of the window. She was hostile one moment and jittery the next. He wasn’t sure if he should talk to her, his comments about court didn’t go over so well and they were probably very different people. From what he saw in her home she seemed quite liberal and he was conservative, although not to the Tea Party extent, but that would probably not be the best conversation. She didn’t seem to like his music while he was tapping his fingers to Miranda Lambert, she sat there, still. Well she was wearing a Wu Tang shirt he wasn’t that into rap but some of it he liked. Oh why was he having this conversation in his head. He was physically attracted to her, he was sure of that but anything beyond that would be an absolute disaster. The last time he went by what his dick said he ended up with an ex-wife and child support. Well right then and there, Craig Bellows decided he was keeping his hands and his cock to himself even if it killed him. As he stared at those smooth, beautiful legs he was thinking maybe he was going to die today.

What Happens In Vegas…-Chapter 3

Warning: This chapter contains sexually explicit material.

Nydia was enjoying a beautiful day in Portland. Fall was coming soon and she just wanted to enjoy the last of this spectacular summer weather. She sitting on the patio drinking coffee and picking at a scrumptious banana walnut muffin at Grinders a coffee house just a block away from campus. She loved this spot, the coffee was too expensive for most of the students so they didn’t invade the place. She could work in peace and not hear too many obnoxious students talking about the ‘sick party’ going on at whatever fraternity over the weekend. Or listen to screeching music, this coffee shop played classical and jazz much more conducive to her thought process right now. Although she couldn’t get thoughts of Emerson, that had been dancing in her head and dreams as of late, out. He hadn’t shown back up at the law library thank goodness but she was dreading running into him on campus again. She was thankful to be here, she could relax and not have to be on high alert.

‘Hello.’

Nydia heard that sweet British accent in her ear. She looked up and there he was blocking the sunshine.

‘Hello,’ she muttered. Now what to do?

Emerson spotted her when he walked into the coffee shop, through the back glass window. She was sitting in the sun looking gorgeous as usual with it shining on that beautiful dark skin. She was glowing. He’d thought about just leaving her alone she didn’t really seem interested but then again there was a little twinkle in her eye he couldn’t ignore. He wanted to explore that more and now seemed like a good time a time as any.

‘May I join you Miss Frazier or is it Mrs.?’

She looked at him curiously, ‘no, it’s Ms. Frazier. See.’ She held up her ring-less finger to show him.

‘Well. It looks as if the men in this town are absolute fools.’

He sat across from her at the small round table and put a cup of what looked to be tea on it. Nydia almost melted, oh goodness he really is a super Brit she thought.

‘Next time I meet a man, I’ll inform him of your opinion.’ She didn’t mean to sound sarcastic but he made her feel on edge and snappy.

He chuckled, ‘you really are a difficult one, aren’t you?’

Nydia looked up from her papers, ‘excuse me?’ She was not liking his tone or maybe it was fact that he was so close and smelling so good, like sandalwood and fresh laundry.

‘I apologize for being so forward.’

‘What is that?’ she asked.

‘What is what?’

‘The way you speak, it’s straight out of a Jane Austen novel. Is that the way you charm the women?’ She didn’t need to ask because it was certainly the way he charmed her.

‘No. It’s not the way I charm the ladies out of their knickers if you want to know,’ then he gave her one of his disarming smiles. ‘It’s just the way I speak, would you like it better if I said, yo ma what’s up?’

She started to laugh he did the worse American accent ever and he laughed along with her. But Nydia knew she couldn’t get too close to this man, her whole life would fall apart if she did.

Emerson looked at her as she laughed and he couldn’t help but think something was so familiar about her but he just couldn’t place it. That beautiful melodic laughter just sounded oddly intimate. So many things about her had him thinking he must know her from someplace but her name wasn’t familiar at all.

‘You really do a terrible ‘hood’ accent. That was awful.’

‘I tried. Looks like you’re working hard.’

‘I am and how about yourself?’

‘It’s afternoon tea time, so I thought I’d get myself a cuppa.’

‘Ahhhh, you are really British.’

‘I am but not in every way. I can let myself go.’

At that phrase scenes of him and her letting themselves go in Vegas popped into her head. She really needed to get out of here and away from him before she burst into lustful flames.

‘Mr. Alistair, I need to…’

‘Please call me Emerson.’

‘Okay. Emerson, I need to get back to the law library. I’ve got tons of work to do.’

‘Okay, I hope I can come across you again. It’s always a pleasure Ms. Frazier.’

Nydia rose from the table she was wearing a pencil skirt that day that clung to every curve on her body for life. Emerson was in sheer pain and joy watching her form as it turned to walk away, that behind of hers, that behind…he thought, I know that beautiful rump.

‘Or can I call you…,’ then it hit him he knew where he knew her from Vegas, Vegas 5 years ago. ‘Charlotte?’ he said aloud.

Nydia turned and looked at him with pure shock and horror on her face. He’d remembered, oh yea she had to get the hell out of there right now. She snatched up her purse and jogged in those spike heels toward the door.

‘Ms. Frazier, Ms. Frazier…’ he called out after her.

She could hear him calling her name but she didn’t turn to try to acknowledge him.

Nydia was back at her office, she couldn’t believe it. Now what was she supposed to do he’d finally figured out who she was, she should just gather up her things and leave but she had a meeting in about 2 hours and she couldn’t miss it. Maybe she would just go hide in the stacks downstairs. Many times when she needed a moment to think she’d go downstairs in the stacks and just put away books. It was always quiet down there because students rarely went there and it would definitely be a good place today because school hadn’t began. She walked out and had the library assistants look at her oddly. She shouldn’t be surprised she did come tearing in here like the police were on her heels a few moments ago.

‘Milo, I’ll be downstairs in the stacks if anyone is looking for me.’

‘Okay Ms. Frazier,’ he said still staring at her cautiously.

Nydia’s heels clacked on the linoleum floors downstairs, most people would be terrified down here and she’d heard many students say they wouldn’t come down here because it was spooky. But it was comforting to her, it was cool, quiet, not too dark but not too much harsh light and she could drag the book cart from shelf to shelf stacking books and thinking. She needed time to think now because she needed a plan of what she would say when she saw Emerson Alistair again.

Emerson was furious as well as a tad turned on, he’d found the woman that he’d thinking about since that night. He was disappointed that next morning in Vegas to find her gone when he’d awoken. What he’d shared with her was more than a one night stand, at least to him, now he’d found her. He knew he wasn’t going to let her get away and then again she had a lot to explain.

At the desk they’d told him she was downstairs. As she descended, he could hear the clack of her heels on the floor, he was quiet as today he’d opted for soft sole loafers. He could hear her as she hummed a tune and as he drew closer he knew he should warn her but what the hell she’d run away from him in Vegas and fled the coffee house it was the strangest thing he’d ever seen. He rounded the corner of one the shelves and there she was her back to him. As he once again appreciated those luscious curves. He knew, yes, that was the woman who’d introduced herself to him as Charlotte in Vegas and as Nydia Frazier here.

download‘Hello again.’

Nydia almost jumped completely out of her skin, she had books in her hand so they hit the floor. She whirled around quickly to catch a glimpse of him leaning against the stacks. She really did want to jump him but a part of her was ready to run again.

‘I see the look in those beautiful eyes, you want to flee but no if you run I’ll catch you. You aren’t going anywhere Ms. Frazier.’

Nydia was a tad insulted, ‘do you think you’re going to stop me?’ She’d taken her hand on the hip tough girl stance. Emerson found he liked it and she was giving him a raging hard on.

‘Yes, because I know how.’

She cocked a quizzical eyebrow at him. ‘What, pray tell, do you know that I don’t?’

‘I know this.’ Emerson stalked toward her and Nydia backed up till she hit the wall. He knew he was taking a real chance with this move but he wanted this woman like no other and he was going to have her. They’d talk about explanations at some other juncture.

She was looking at him walk toward her and was astounded and aroused by the look in his eyes.

‘What are you doing?’

‘Reacquainting myself with you.’

He was in front in her now as she was pressed against the wall, she thought she should argue or leave but really at this moment she didn’t want to argue or leave. There was a lot of pent up sexual frustration she had regarding this man and lot of late night fantasies because of him and just wanted to relieve some that stress.

‘Would you like to leave?’ He was looking down at her eyes swimming with sex.

‘No,’ she said softly.

‘Ms. Frazier you have to speak up. I am not accustomed to taking a lady against her will.’

She looked him squarely in the eye, ‘no, I said.’

‘That’s all I needed to hear.’

Emerson hands moved to the hem of her skirt, Nydia trembled slightly at his touch. It was light but electric, she knew they had something that night in Vegas maybe that’s why she made a beeline outta there before he woke up. She’d always known she was a scaredy cat when it came to emotions especially love and she wanted to keep tight control over it all but now she just wanted to lose some of it.

Emerson stepped closer to her and pinned her in against the wall, he wanted her still. He didn’t want to talk to her face to face he wanted to speak into her ear, wanted her to feel his body and the heat emanating from it. His cock was hard as steel at this moment, he probably hadn’t felt this much lust since his night with her in Vegas. He kept inching her skirt up and noticed she wasn’t fighting or even arguing just breathing shallow but audible.

‘Ms. Frazier, I’m pleased you decided to stay,’ he finally had her skirt around her waist he was standing in front of her so if someone came across them it was unlikely they’d realize what was happening and this little corner was rather dim also. He felt her skin under his hands so smooth and supple just like he remembered, he almost came on the spot. He had to keep it together and let her melt he wanted her back but he wanted the truth too.

Nydia could feel her bare bottom on the cool wall, she wasn’t sure what he was doing but she didn’t want it to stop. She was wearing a lace thong and she felt those long slim strong fingers move the fabric aside as he slipped into her slick folds.

‘Ummm.’

‘I’ve hit the spot. Yes…well that feels good to my fingers too,’ he assured her.

It had been so long since anyone had made her feel anything this good, these were only his fingers. She could feel herself start to writhe against his hand.

‘Does that feel nice Ms. Frazier?’

Nydia couldn’t speak so she just nodded her head to indicate yes. Emerson smiled he enjoyed that night many years ago the pleasure he brought her. She was extremely responsive to his touch then just as she was now.

‘Now Ms. Frazier I want you to ride my fingers because I know it feels good. I’m going to make sure you come right here most intensely. So put your arms on my shoulders because I don’t want you to fall and injure yourself. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if that happened.’

Nydia side eyed him she couldn’t believe how calm he was, she could feel his hard member against her body but couldn’t understand how he stayed so in control. He had one hand on her butt massaging the flesh firmly while his other hand did magic fingers on her dripping cunt and slick clit. She was doing a poor job of keeping it together, her thighs were trembling and she wanted to scream out but instead of doing that she dug her fingernails into his shoulders. She hoped she wasn’t drawing blood as she put her face into his chest and muffled a scream of ecstasy in it.

Emerson felt her nails and her face against him, she was shaking uncontrollably and coming in his hands. It was warm and wet as it spread over his fingers. He looked at her as she came it was just as beautiful as previously. He let her settle before he extracted his fingers from her. She raised her face and she was gorgeous. Afterglow suited her very well.

He wanted to release his cock and screw her right into the wall but he’d just let her think about it. He knew she wanted him but she was hanging on so tightly to her control she wasn’t ready but he’d do whatever he needed to make sure she knew how much he wanted her.

‘Ms. Frazier?’

She looked up at him suddenly as she heard her name and realized what had just happened. Nydia’s eyes began to shift back and forth like a trapped animal, she started to pull at her skirt and she straightened that severe bun on her head that had gone askew in the passionate moment. She wanted to get out of there and away from him.

He looked her in the eye and said definitively, ‘I understand you want to leave and that’s fine but as I said previously we have things to speak about. And we will speak on those. Please understand that although I did not fuck you today, we are going to fuck.’

Her eyes narrowed at him and she began to squirm feverishly to get out of his hold. ‘Let me go,’ she said.

He did exactly as she asked, he let her go and backed away. Nydia took off with her book cart out of those shelves. As she left she looked back at him and he was standing at the end of the bookshelves against the wall relaxed as her eyes glanced down she noticed he was stroking his hardened cock. She thought to herself, wasn’t this scenario familiar to her. She turned and tried her best to put that sight out of her mind but the results of her own orgasm dripping between her legs made that hard to do. The remainder of the day was pretty much shot.

Surviving In Dateland-Chapter 8

WARNING: This contains explicit sexual content.

It had been over a week after the big blow up with Sophie and Brock, he’d been calling her but Sophie wasn’t in the mood to hear it or him. The betrayal was too much, she’d talked to Leann about it and she told her to let it go there were a lot worse things he could be. For Sophie that didn’t matter, he was the worse thing she thought he could be, a liar. She wasn’t sure about giving him a chance. He’d sent flowers and cards and little gifts to the office, Sophie had either given them away or threw them in the trash. He’d told her he used his wealth to influence people previously, he wasn’t about to start doing that again with her. It had been almost impossible not to call him or melt at the beautiful words he’d written her in the card but she was standing strong.

It was Friday night and bunch of folks from work were going to the Harvest Moon to drink beer in celebration of them completing the brews for the Fall roll out. She’d been in charge of one herself this year, first time and was proud of her accomplishment. She didn’t want to miss it especially since the tab would be on the boss, Bob Stehr.

They were at the Harvest Moon which was a bar and restaurant, it had spectacular food but the atmosphere was relaxed. So Sophie was jeans, steal toe boots and her flower power t-shirt, no time to get gussied up so many of the folks who brewed beer smelled like hops and barley. It was an odd aroma along with some sweat, but she was used to it.

She along with the two ladies in accounting and Trudy were the only women that worked full time. There a couple part time bartenders and waitresses, but they were the steadys. Trudy was there tonight with her new boyfriend, a skinny kid with red hair he was an Irish exchange student named Kevin Sullivan, he was cute for a skinny kid. Most everyone had their girlfriends or boyfriends there with them, it laughter and jokes all around. Grant and his wife and kids were sitting down by Sophie, she hadn’t told him anything about what happened between her and Brock. He knew they were dating and had been suspicious about her snappy mood swings but he hadn’t pried. She had told Leann about it but just said they were taking a break while she reassessed some things but in her mind, she kept thinking there was a good chance this short lived love affair was over. She hated she had decided to take it this far.

‘You okay, Sophie?’

She looked up to see Grant’s concerned eyes. She also saw his wife’s attention shift towards her, she tried her best to not make Nicky uncomfortable but she couldn’t help that she and Grant were friends. She didn’t have feelings for him but she knew she could cause this woman a lot of pain if she wasn’t careful.

‘I’m fine, Grant,’ she smiled. He was holding his baby daughter Hillary such a cute little thing, blue eyes and blond little curls. Sophie reached over and pinched her little cheeks.

She’d thought once before about having children but that was a dream and it looked like her chances of it ever happening her slim to none. She was cooing and talking to the baby in Grant’s arms and noticed him look up and frown slightly. He wasn’t looking at her he was looking over her shoulder. She turned to see what he was frowning at, seems the whole table had turned to see.

‘Brock,’ she said under her breath. Yes, there he was standing in the middle of the restaurant holding a huge bunch of flowers along with a bunch of delivery men standing beside him holding all kinds of different arrangements. There were dahlias, roses, tulips, gerber daisies, carnations, and lilies and everything in between. It was amazing. It looked liked a garden had sprang up out of nowhere. He looked at her and smiled brightly. Sophie didn’t know what to say, she’d never been treated so lovingly by a man, ever. She didn’t even realize men like this existed. Then she noticed something else, he was in a suit, a very causal one but a suit nonetheless. She was about to stand but her knees got a little wobbly. She was overwhelmed, she was still upset but really this man had proven he wanted her time and time again was she silly enough to throw this chance away? She got up and rushed over to him. She was standing there in front his expectant face.

‘Are these for me?’

‘You know it babe. I’ll bring flowers everyday for the rest of my life if you’ll just give me another chance. Sophie, I’m so sorry. I was an unconscionable fool. I deserve you kicking me out that night but please, I’m begging you don’t kick me out forever. I think I’m falling in love with you.’

For a moment Sophie wasn’t sure she heard him right but she did he’d said he was falling in love with her. She stood with a complete look of shock plastered on her face and she noticed his face kind of dropping. She didn’t want him to think she didn’t have feelings for him because she did but she still wasn’t comfortable confessing those so soon. This man was amazing, she could feel herself start to smile huge then Brock’s amazing smile returned. He turned to hand the roses to a delivery guy and turned back and took Sophie in his arms. He drew her close, they were both still smiling.

‘Im going to kiss you now and I swear on everything I am and have I will never deceive you again.’

Sophie didn’t speak she was waiting on the kiss then it happened, his lips connected with hers and everything in the room came to a complete halt. Sophie couldn’t hear the cheering, whooping and clapping of the restaurant patrons. All she heard was the quickening of her heart as what she knew was the man of her dreams held her close and kissed her as if tomorrow wouldn’t come. She wanted to stay like this forever but it ended as he pulled back from her she opened her eyes slowly and saw only his gaze. Then she felt the other eyes and heard the noise. Sophie glanced around to see people staring and everyone at her table shouting and cheering, everyone that was except Grant his eyes were narrowed and he looked pissed. She turned back to Brock and put Grant’s weird look out her mind right now it was only about she and him. Even though they were in this restaurant.

‘Well, aren’t you going to say anything?’ he asked.

She’d was so totally spaced out that she didn’t respond, ‘oh’ she said with an embarrassed chuckle. ‘I’m going to to say this to you one time only. No lying not even by omission.’

He nodded his head in compliance.

‘Now that you understand that, I guess you better meet everyone before they start a parade.’

She kissed him softly on the lips. Sophie wanted to reassure him that his apology had been accepted. She took his hand and lead him to the table. The delivery folks were instructed to give a bouquet of flowers to every woman at the table by Brock, Sophie found it to be a sweet and noble gesture. At that moment she realized she didn’t want to lose him and she got to keep the roses.

He was introduced to everyone, Sophie got lots of approving looks from her co-workers dates at the table. Some of them enviable, a couple just flat out lustful. Finally she introduced him to Grant and Nicky, Nicky was all smiles and very friendly but Grant was a bit cold which Sophie just found odd but it seemed every time she mentioned Brock he was odd. She just couldn’t understand what he had against Brock but she’d ask him about it at some point at this point she only cared about Brock.

Sophie and Brock were sitting at an empty table later that evening, the dinner had broken up and everyone had gone home. They were still there sharing a piece of the most delectable raspberry lemon cheesecake she’d ever had. At the bar on the other side of the Harvest Moon was some rockabilly band playing and folks were whooping it up but the restaurant was still quite mellow.

Brock placed a forkful into her mouth, ‘oh my goodness that is sinfully rich and delicious,’ she commented almost mewling at the taste. ‘I really should stop, my hips are going to be mad at me.’

‘But I’m not going to be mad at your hips,’ he assured her as he took her by those hips and pulled her closer to him.

‘You can be a charmer, can’t you?’

‘My grandmother says that about me. That I’m a charming ass.’

‘No. Grandmas shouldn’t talk like that,’ she admonished.

‘Well she’s kind of right, I was a charming ass in my younger days. Actually I was a charming ass the other day as I tried and failed to explain keeping secrets.’

Sophie sat up slightly at attention, she figured he was ready to spill his guts and she was prepared to listen.

‘I really didn’t mean not to tell you.’

Sophie smirked and rolled her eyes to the ceiling.

He chuckled nervously and took her hands, Sophie felt safe when he held her hands. She felt safe with him.

‘I didn’t. I just thought I’d wait for the right time to tell you. I know, I know that’s a shitty excuse but I did. I found myself liking you so much as time went on I thought if I tell her now she’ll either do one of two things. Think I’m a louse and take off, surprise, surprise. Or…’

‘Be all moony eyed because you have a few bucks,’ Sophie finished the sentence for him, her face emotionless.

‘I’m sorry, I know that’s such a dick thing to say but it’s happened before.’

‘No, I get it, I get it. I’m just a broke black chick, surprise, surprise.’

Brock set back in chair and sighed, ‘this isn’t exactly coming out right.’

But Sophie wasn’t as upset with him as he thought. She got it, she really did but it still hurt her feelings.

‘I get it, Brock. I actually do but you have to understand something. I’m a 38 year old divorced black woman. In the realm of prizes, I haven’t always felt like one. I had a really crappy marriage with a guy who left because I changed careers and wasn’t paying my half of the bills. The absolute last thing I have ever been is a golddigger. I pretty much took care of myself while married and before as a single woman. Hell, I didn’t even want to go out with you. You convinced me to do that. I really like you, I do more than I’ve liked someone in a long time. Don’t make me regret that decision.’

Sophie was shocked when he suddenly pulled her into his lap. He looked at her for few moments and then kissed her deeply pulling her in, she could barely catch her breath.

‘I won’t ever do that,’ he raised his hand and told her, ‘I promise.’

A huge grin broke out on Sophie’s face, she still wasn’t sure if she was ready to reveal her true feelings to him. But she did know something, what she was feeling, he was feeling also.

They’d driven back to Sophie’s condo since it was closer. They were sitting on Sophie’s patio looking out on the black waters of Puget Sound. Since she finally knew the truth of who he was Brock was giving her more background.

‘My great grandfather was an immigrant from Sweden and he started as a tailor and it went from there.’

‘Wow, you ought to be really honored to have such a legacy. I know your family is really charitable and they do a lot for the community.’

She looked over to Brock who nodded his head, ‘yea they do but a lot of it is just for show, just for tax purposes.’

‘Well, you shouldn’t be so down on your family even if some of it is for show, people still benefit. I know they added that new cancer center at St. George’s Hospital and my mom’s husband was treated for prostate cancer there, it benefitted him. You shouldn’t be so resentful of her family’s wealth. A bunch of folks would kill to be that wealthy. I’m sure a bunch of your kids at school would.’

‘Yea you’re right, they would. I’ve got kids whose parents or parent are hurting. I’ve paid some bills for parents without them knowing.’

Sophie eyed him surprised, ‘how’d you do that?’

‘I just told them there’s a charity because there is. I sent them there for help.’

Sophie looked confused.

‘I have a foundation, Sophie.’

‘You have a what? It’s your family’s foundation?’

‘No,’ he shook his head, ‘it’s mine. Yes, I am wealthy so why not do something good with it. After I got my trust fund and I’d gone through all the crap I described before. After my time in Korea and starting to teach here, I wanted to do something. So I started my foundation, my dad helped me.’

Sophie was just staring at him in astonishment, this man was amazing.

‘I don’t know what to say, I’m just like wow! And I’m so damn stupid, I was going to let you go. I’m so sorry.’

She took his face in her hands and kissed him deeply. It had been awhile since they’d seen one another or spoken and Sophie felt stirrings in her nether region. She didn’t know what it was about this particular man that could stir her up so quickly and completely. After she moved out of the kiss they waited in the darkness staring at one another.

‘Sophie, can I ask you something?’

‘Sure.’

‘Do you think we got physical too soon? I’m just saying we were hanging out not dating and then I take you out once and bam! It’s on.’

Sophie giggled at his description. ‘I probably should have held out but I didn’t want to so I didn’t.’

‘I’m glad you didn’t too. I was nervous maybe I pushed you into that.’

Sophie smiled at him, ‘I was mad about you not telling me who were but I can’t say I regretted that but I didn’t want it to turn into a late night hot mama thing either.’

‘Never,’ he said emphatically. ‘You know what? With you standing there looking totally luscious in that t-shirt you’re about to pop out of, I’m about to pop out of these pants.’

‘Oh my goodness are you serious? You are so cheeky, young man.’

He rose swiftly from his seated position to gather her up in his arms, he held her close and tightly. It felt great to be held by someone, she could feel his manhood against her waist but she was surprised he didn’t make any other overt signals that he was interested in her sexually.

‘I know what you’re thinking Sophie,’ he looked down at her, ‘and it’s true I want to make love to you badly but not so badly that I would remove romance from the picture.’

‘That means a lot to me.’

‘You know as much as you now know about me, I don’t know much about you. But you know that’s okay, I want you to trust me and I know right now you’re working your way toward that so I’m okay with you being a bit of mystery. But trust me, I’ll solve it.’

‘You really are tenacious.’

‘Lady, you’re dealing with a Lindstrom we’re born with tenacity. Right out of the womb.’

Sophie started to let her hands roam that gorgeous body of his, ‘well, could I get a possible demonstration of that in the bedroom where it counts.’

‘You certainly can,’ he closed in on her full lips grasping and sucking them with his own, he kissed her letting his mouth ease her open for entry of his tongue. It was all heady for Sophie, those clothes were confining them both and she wanted them off.

She moved out of his kiss and breathing hard.

‘Brock, let’s move this little demonstration to where it matters.’ She led him instead he was holding her hand as they crossed to her bedroom. Sophie had a king sized bed, a gift she bought for herself she always figured she was going to be single forever so why not be as comfortable as possible.

She plopped down in her clothes, she’d removed her shoes but was still dressed. So was he, he’d taken off his suit jacket and stood in slacks and a crisp white shirt. She looked at him for a long time, he really was beautiful when he dressed up he looked like he’d dropped off the pages of GQ. She noticed the eyes at the Harvest Moon cutting her way, didn’t matter she had him and planned on keeping him.

‘What are staring at?’ he asked bewildered by her look.

‘At you. You are a sexy beast.’

‘Rawr.’

They smiled and laughed at the playfulness. He stripped off his shirt as Sophie just watched, his chest was broad and muscular as was the rest of him. She wondered sometimes how he was so flexible but he was extremely athletic. Then came the slacks, he was doing an odd striptease she thought maybe she put on background music but then again she didn’t need anything to take her attention away from this spectacular specimen of maleness. And before she knew it he was standing there completely naked. She wondered did he see the look of utter wonder and awe in her eyes as she perused his body. She was so ready for him to just take her right there it had been too long and she was slightly feigning. But he wasn’t rushing so she figured she could control herself she was a grown woman. He was a very grown up man.

‘I’ve missed you Sophie,’ he said very quietly but the seduction was there. ‘I’ve wanted to be here with you so badly and tonight I’m aching to taste your nectar.’

Her eyes shot up, she liked the directness, she loved being wanted. He moved toward her on the bed slowly. He draped his naked body over her clothed one, she could feel his hardened shaft rub against her as he unzipped her jeans and relieved her of them.

‘What are planning on doing now I’m laying here with no pants Brock?’

‘Lay back and relax, Sophie,’ he gently prodded her to lay back.

It was dark in her bedroom with just slight glow of the moon filtering in through her sheer curtains. She felt exceptional and just wanted to enjoy coming together again with this man she felt such growing love for. She wished she could tell him but for now she wanted to just feel him. She felt her panties come off as his warm breath prickled the flesh between her thighs. Sophie was so excited but he was taking forever. She moaned deep in her throat.

‘Sophie I know you want to move, I know you want to writhe but don’t just yet babe. Because I’m about to eat your pussy like it’s my job.’

Sophie giggled out loud then her giggle was cut short by the feel his tongue. She sucked in a sudden breath at his deft skill on her sensitive clit. It had been long time since a man had pleasured her like this, but none were ever this good. Sophie wasn’t sure if it was because they’d been apart for so long but his ministrations and her overwhelming need was a great combination.

She could hear him slurping and sucking to what seemed his heart’s delight. Her head was back pressed into the pillow but she looked up, she had to see him at work the man was amazing. There he was happily between her thighs his eyes closed as he concentrated on that warm center. He opened them slowly and looked up at her in the darkness she could just see shadows but she swore she felt and saw him smile devilishly around her wet snatch. Sophie was going to pieces, Brock was massaging her legs and butt as he just feasted. He licked slow, then fast, hard and light, he’d do little nibbles it was everything Sophie enjoyed. Sophie was going to come it was building fast and it was about to be a gusher, she felt the pressure then the tremble in her thighs as they closed tighter around Brock’s head. Her leg muscles began to tighten as her hands grabbed for her sheets, she pulling and stretching as her toes clenched into knots it was coming. Sophie didn’t want to hold back a moment longer so she succumb to the feeling. It hit her like beam of light shiny and warm, Sophie lifted her back from the bed as she almost screamed in unknown pleasure. Her body just felt the sensation of the orgasm as her mind accepted the feeling, she was shaking all over she had to back up to detach herself from his tongue. She could feel her heart racing and her breathing was shallow, her eyes opened and all she saw was a beautiful, muscular Brock looming over her with a smile of satisfaction and arrogance on his face. He could certainly make the claim. He did do that like it was his job.

He stood staring at her with hooded lids and desire in his eyes, his manhood heavy and hard in his hands.

‘Come here,’ he said but Sophie figured she must not have moved fast enough because before she knew it he’d drawn her up by her legs and pushed into her in one deep stroke.

It wasn’t painful, all she felt was relieved. She’d wanted to feel his cock between her folds. It felt good and right, he began to move in and out slowly. Sophie was surprised he could hold her up as her head was still on the bed but her lower body was pulled up against his as he stood. This yoga was certainly doing everyone good. Sophie was moaning as he made contact with her still delicate clit and just made the sensations of her earlier orgasm wash over. He was talking to her as he plunged deeper and deeper.

‘Oh god Sophie, you feel so good, so right. I want you like this all the time.’

‘You too, Brock. Yes, just take me.’

Sophie looked at him, she was just overwhelmed with the look in his eyes as he loved her. It was gorgeous Sophie had to look away she was about to cry she was just drowned in emotion. Sophie was suddenly not sure if she it was just sex or more.

‘Sophie, Sophie you’re so beautiful,’ he leaned over slightly and caressed her face as he moved in her. Sophie nuzzled into his hand and kissed it. Then something, she figured that surprised both of them, happened.

‘I love you,’ Brock said quietly under his breath.

Sophie was struck silent then suddenly another orgasm hit her and she moaned out loud, ‘aaaahhhh!’

‘Yeah baby, let it come. I’m coming with you.’

Then Brock let out a something akin to a roar, Sophie smiled and as they rode those lightning bolts out together. She’d never come twice during sex it was a heady feeling for her. Brock’s own release was waning but he was still breathing heavy and had her thighs in a vice grip. There would surely be bruises tomorrow but she okay with that. He eased his hold and lowered her to the bed gently. He was standing above her with a tremendous naughty grin.

‘Baby, you are the absolute best.’

‘Thanks, I think,’ she said she wasn’t sure what the compliment was for but she’d just decided to enjoy it.

As he flopped onto her bed and settled himself, Sophie turned to stare at him. She really was overwhelmed by how handsome he was, she was overwhelmed that he was here with her and she was completely overwhelmed that he’d just told her he loved. But it was during sex so that didn’t really count. Did it?

Brock reached over and pulled her snug against him, their bodies were both still slick with sweat from the feverish love making.

‘You are so sexy, just the sexiest thing I’ve ever had the pleasure to indulge in.’

‘Oh come on Brock, let’s not go overboard.’

He swatted her lightly on her butt.

‘Ow, what the heck?’

‘Don’t say those things about yourself, you’re gorgeous Sophie and I’m so incredibly lucky to have you. You say something untrue like that again and I’ll spank you.’

‘You wouldn’t dare?’

Brock pulled his head back to look at her, ‘yes I would. I love you and I don’t want any woman I love speaking about herself like that.’

‘Brock, don’t say that.’

‘Don’t say what?’

‘The ‘L’ word I know you don’t feel like that about me. I know you were swept away in a moment of passion.’

He swatted her butt again.

‘Ow, come on.’

‘I told you I’d spank you if you said untrue things.’

Sophie put her hands over her eyes and rolled onto her back. ‘I can’t deal with this, I can’t. There is no way you feel like that.’

‘Why?’

‘Because we haven’t known each other long enough. That’s why.’

‘How long have we been hanging out?’

‘A couple of months so it’s just too soon.’

‘It may be too soon for you but not me. I’m an adult and believe me I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t mean it. Also, you want to know something?’ Brock perched his face on his bent arm. ‘I know you love me.’

Sophie looked at him startled, ‘how would you know that?’

‘I just do but I know you’re not ready to tell me.’

Sophie just stared at him in the dark room, her eyes had adjusted so she could see him clearly and yes she saw the love in his eyes. She closed her own to block it out, she was sure he saw the same in hers but she wasn’t about to put herself in a vulnerable position, she had to be more sure.

‘Okay, we’ll talk about something else but I’m not going anywhere.’

She opened her eyes again as he looked down at her with that beautiful sexy smile. Gosh, she did love him and more than she thought she could handle.

‘I want you to go somewhere with me Sophie.’

‘Where?’

‘Over to Port Townsend.’

‘What? Why?’

‘Because I want you to meet the family.’

Sophie’s stomach dropped out. Family. Meet the Lindstroms. Oh she definitely was not ready for this. This is not how she thought their night of passion would end.

Remembering Your Heart-Chapter 5

beautiful Black WomanIt had been over a month and Mona had neither seen nor heard from Luke. Well, it wasn’t as if he didn’t try, he’d come by the firehouse only to be turned away brusquely and with threat of bodily harm by some of her fireman brothers. She didn’t want to speak to him, she’d cried not just for the loss of her relationship with him but for the betrayal and knowing he was part of it. She’d gone home that night after the scene on the street and threw up, she was sick to her stomach. She’d felt so violated, she cried and wailed for days at home but at work she was just stoic. Guys asked her what was wrong but they got the look of death for interfering but they knew she didn’t want to see Luke so they protected her. He called so much, she actually changed her phone number and threatened her niece with bodily harm if she gave it to Brady.

On this S
unday she’d finally come out to have lunch with Georgie and Amber. Her older cousin had found out that she’d broken up with Luke and was happy about it although she tried her best not to show Mona.

‘So how about shopping after this? It’s almost time for my baby to head back to Eugene. I am so sad.’ She reached over to caress Amber’s cheek.

Amber rolled her eyes and sighed she was excited about getting out of there so she wouldn’t have her mom watching her every move. It seemed she and Brady had been secretly going out from time to time, she wanted to tell her Aunt Mo but that was the last thing she needed to hear now.

‘Mom it’s just Eugene, it’s not a big deal.’

‘It is to me young lady, I’m your mother and I miss you when you’re gone.’

‘I’ll be back Thanksgiving mom, geez.’

‘Well ask Mona, I’m sure she’ll miss you too. Won’t you Mona?’

‘Huh?’ Mona had barely heard the nattering of her cousin, maybe it was bad idea to come out today.

‘Aren’t you going to miss Amber.’

‘Oh. Yea, of course, I’ll miss my regular running buddy. But she’s a grown woman Georgie, let her live her life.’

‘Oh whatever, you don’t understand. When you have kids you’ll know.’

Mona got a pained look on her face, Georgie realized what she said. ‘I’m sorry Mona that was so thoughtless of me.’

It had to be bad if Georgie apologized, she never apologized but Mona knew that they all knew what she had been struggling with over these last few weeks.

‘It’s okay, it really is. I need to go to the bathroom,I’ll be right back.’

Mona rose from the table and headed toward the restroom sign. She was standing in the mirror looking at herself, gosh she looked like warm death, her eyes were bloodshot because she’d been having nightmares about her parents. Her face was sort of gray, she didn’t normally wear makeup but today would have been a good day to start. Her hair was pulled back into some sort of makeshift ponytail. She thought for a woman who’d supposedly moved on she certainly didn’t look like it. As she headed back into the restaurant, she noticed in her peripheral vision a sight she knew. It was Luke. She wasn’t sure at first but then she heard him laugh that deep rumble of his, she was mortified. She’s looking like a hag and he’s here guffawing it up with a blonde. She was a fool. After she got back to the table Georgie excused herself to the restroom. Mona hoped she didn’t see him because knowing her cousin there would be a scene but then again what did she care he deserved it.

‘Aunt Mo?’

‘Huh?’ She seemed to not be listening to anything or anyone today.

‘I was just asking how was your salmon?’

Mona shook out her consuming thoughts of beating Luke senseless. ‘It was great honey but we better go. I’ve got stuff to do today.’

‘Oh yea, mom said when she got back she’d pay the check and we’d be out of here. You know what Aunt Mo?’

Mona smiled at her, ‘what?’

‘I’m worried about you.’

‘Dont be sweetie, I’m fine.’

‘I know you miss Luke and you know he misses you too. Brady tells me that all the time. That his dad is miserable without you.’

Mona clenched her teeth, he couldn’t be too miserable with that blonde.

‘Really. Well it’s too complex for you to worry about. We’re adults we know what we’re doing.’ Although Mona wasn’t sure what she was doing.

Amber just looked at her suspiciously, she loved her Aunt Mo but she couldn’t understand someone giving up someone they love. She was willing to defy her mother to be with Brady, although secretly.

Georgie had returned and was ready to pay and get out there.

‘Okay, ladies let’s head for shopping. There are these bad pumps I’ve got my eye on at Lindstrom I have to have them.’

‘Well, I won’t be joining you guys I’ve got other things to do.’

‘What other things?’

‘Just other stuff, will you lay off Georgie,’ Mona raised her voice at her cousin it was something she rarely did but Georgie could be overbearing sometimes and she wasn’t feeling it at the moment.

‘Okay, okay I’ll leave you alone.’ Georgie put her arm around Mona and pulled her tight it was a sweet gesture and actually Mona could use some human contact. She was becoming a bit prickly.

She was hoping they could escape without anyone catching a glimpse of her ex man here with another woman. That hope was dashed as they headed for the exit and she spotted Luke and his lunch companion. She was a petite blonde all curves in a dress Mona couldn’t pull off on her best day.

‘Aunt Mo, you okay?’ She heard Amber say in her ear as she took her hand.

Mona shook her head because she felt as if she spoke she’d scream like a maniac. She could hear Georgie behind them babbling, she hadn’t seen Luke and Mona was not in the mood for a Georgie drama trip. She turned toward Georgie who spotted the look in her eyes.

Georgie’s brow furrowed and she saw who Mona was giving her the look about. Georgie’s shock and disgust shown immediately and as she opened her mouth, Mona mouthed ‘please no’ to her. Georgie stopped but only because she knew Mona needed her silence now but any other moment and she would have ripped him a new one.

Luke saw her coming toward him, of all the days to run into Mona why today. He couldn’t think he just wanted to grab her and drag her away from this place, away from the obvious pain that shown in her eyes. This was a business lunch and although Ms. Sheila Webster wanted more he had no interest in her. The only woman in his thoughts was Mona. She looked away for a moment at her cousin Georgina who he’d met at a family gathering. She didn’t like him then and there was pure hatred in her face now, but Amber was there and in her he did have an ally. But even she looked confused at this scene, he’d have to get Brady to explain it to her later.

He spoke first to the frostiest reception of his life. ‘Hello there.’ Sheila stopped at his side and eyed the group of women in front of her cautiously. The one in the middle who looked like she needed a vacation as she looked almost through her and back to Lucas.

‘Hi Luke,’ Amber was the first to speak up, ‘wow fancy seeing you here.’

Luke tried to play it cool but his hands her itching to reach out and touch Mona so badly. He was wiling her to look at him but she wouldn’t.

‘Yes, I’m taking an associate out for lunch. Everyone this is Sheila Webster. Sheila, this is Amber, her mother Georgina Delacroix and Mona Anderson.’

‘Hello y’all. Nice to meet you.’ She had a heavy southern drawl Mona noticed.

‘You too,’ they said in unison.

Mona was ready to head pass Luke, when she felt his hand on her arm. ‘How are you, Mona?’ His voice was so soft, sweet with care and concern could this be the same person she’d discovered had a hand in her parents’ death. She turned to look at him then down at where his hand warmed her skin.

‘I’m fine.’

He let her go and Mona walked on. His body was racked with pain, Georgie was at her side and Mona looked back at the scene she’d just left. Luke was staring at her with a pained expression, she couldn’t look too long or she’d cry. Amber was saying goodbye and moving past. Mona could hear the woman asking, ‘who the heck were they? Why was the one in the middle giving you the evil eye? What a witch.’

Mona just tuned the rest out, as they reached the exit and into the parking lot. Amber and Georgie were asking if she was okay, she kept reassuring them that she was but she wanted to get to her car. She said her good byes and promised them, she’d call if she needed anything. Once in her truck, she lay her head on the steering wheel and began to sob loudly. She knew she may have looked strange to passersby but she cried like a baby in that car for almost an hour. Mona hadn’t felt pain like this since her parents’ death and she was feeling it for the man who killed them. At that thought her pain deepened.

Luke came home to an empty house, Brady had gone away to Lincoln City with friends. One more blast before it was time for him to head back to school for the Fall quarter. He was proud of Brady he seemed to be making friends and adjusting to life here. He was doing a lot better than his old man. Luke flopped down on the couch, he was drained. This last month or so had been the pits, he’d told his father happened between him and Mona. His papa had lectured him a bit but really what he needed he got from his dad. He cried in that small man’s lap just as he did when he was young. Luke couldn’t believe it, he cried like a baby but he needed that time. He hadn’t cried like that since his mama died but he was heartbroken.

He’d finally started getting full nights of sleep here in the last week and then out of the blue Sheila Webster had called about a business brunch. Well, maybe not out of the blue, she’d had her eye on him he knew since he’d rolled into town many months ago. What was his rotten luck to have lunch with her and run into Mona. He almost wanted to start crying again. She looked so sad, so lost, he wanted to kick his own ass for being the one to do that. He figured he could explain but what would it matter now he should have told her from the beginning.

That had been a tough time in his life, no mama, he was running wild in the streets. His father working day and night to keep the business alive. He was just a punk kid who followed, who wanted to belong so when he should of said no or stop, he ran. He remembered the next couple of days hearing about the fire and the people killed. He was so scared but he had to do something, he told his pops who immediately boxed him about the ears and dragged his sorry ass down to the station to report his friends. But in the end what he learned was they weren’t friends, they were punk kids like him. Danny was over 18, so he was an adult so he got the most time, the rest of the gang turned on him to make sure they got the least amount of time they could. Since Luke turned State’s evidence and didn’t have anything to do with the actual murder he was set free and immediately sent to live with his Grandfather and Nana in Brooklyn.

His grandparents had a store and he worked his butt off, his grandfather cut him absolutely no slack. He worked everyday after school and weekends. He was so tired most of the time he didn’t have the energy to get into trouble. He went to mass on Sundays and went to the school attached to the church. He hated it but his father wouldn’t let him come back till he cleaned up his act. He worked hard, played baseball, started to make friends and started getting serious about life. He graduated, went to a two year college to get his grades up and then went to Fordham. He meet his ex-wife on a trip with friends to the Jersey Shore, he’d completely fell head over heels in what he thought was love. She was a WASP, everything he wasn’t, cultured, beautiful, and rich. He felt lucky she looked his way. They got married after she graduated and started living not the life either imagined then Brady came and it got real complicated. He loved her, he really did, but he knew she deserved someone that was in love with her. So he got divorced and played bachelor about town and boy did he play. Beautiful women everywhere and he loved the sistas and they loved him.

He never thought he’d want to be married again even with all the beautiful women he met in New York but then he came here and found this spectacular angel that made everything about his world more sane, joyful and comforting. He didn’t know what he was going to do with Mona out of his life. The thought of never holding, kissing or making love to her again filled him with unspeakable pain. Luke physically hurt. He’d made a complete mess out of his life again but this time he didn’t think he could recover or if he wanted to. He rose from the couch to head to bedroom he just wanted to sleep and forget.
